Scope and Analysis |
| |
| The foundation for any good business continuity
management structure is in the scope and analysis
stage. At this point, an organisation’s objectives
are identified and these objectives in turn, enable
the organisation’s business continuity strategy
to be defined. |
| |
| The organisation’s strategy is vital in
identifying the level and type of business continuity
to be implemented by that organisation. The strategy
can vary from limited recovery capability for a
restricted number of processes and activities through
to full recovery for all processes and activities
undertaken by that organisation. The strategy will
also enable recovery timescales to be identified
which, will vary from immediate activation of recovery
facilities (hot), after an adverse impact on the
organisation through to delayed activation (warm
/ cold) of those facilities. |
| |
| The legal and regulatory requirements which regulate
an organisation will be considered at this stage
and will contribute to the decisions to be made
with regards to the level and type of business continuity
required. |
| |
| The organisation’s business continuity strategy
will in turn help to define process level and resource
recovery strategy. |
